NGC 6939 1

NGC 6939 is an open cluster in the constellation Cepheus approximately 4,000 light-years distant.  This colorful cluster is relatively old.  A photometric study utilizing member stars have estimated the age of the cluster to be between 1 and 1.3 billion years.  The cluster is visible under dark skies with the aid of binoculars and can be resolved using small amateur telescopes.
