NGC 6140

NGC 6140

NGC 6140 is a Barred Spiral Galaxy[1] in the northern constellation Draco the Dragon.  This not often imaged galaxy is located approximately 37 million light years from the Earth[1].

The galaxy is located relatively close to the north celestial pole and is visible during most of the year in northern latitudes[2].  Many faint background galaxies are visible throughout the field of view in the image above.
