PSP-8   Processing Color DSO Images

This PSP-8 presentation builds on the first one I presented. This presentation is of the DSO M-57. It is a color image captured with the Meade LPI camera by Jim White. I would like to sincerely thank Jim for his permission to use it.

If you are new to PSP, I recommend you view the first presentation before going through this one. I have omitted some of the screen shots of menu selections here that were covered in the earlier presentation.

m75 Raw Image

I used this image and recorded my processing steps for this presentation. As you can see in the image, the planetary ring of the nebula is faintly visible along with some of the brighter stars. Our goal is to bring out the faint details of the image and balance its colors while controlling noise and artifacts induced by the processing steps.
